Winton Woods high school offers 29 extracurricular clubs; district emphasizes whole‑child opportunities

Winton Woods officials presented counts and descriptions of extracurricular offerings July 28, saying the district will provide a wide range of clubs, fine‑arts and athletics to support “whole‑child” development.
Superintendent Denny said the middle school offered about 14 clubs last year, ranging from chess and anime to a drone/aviation Explorer club and Builders/Kiwanis clubs. High school principal Steve Martin said Winton Woods High School will offer 29 extracurricular activities in 2025–26, up from 27 the prior year, and that participation reached more than 60% of students last year.
Martin said the high school has 11 boys and 14 girls athletic team opportunities, and noted additions in recent years such as female wrestling and a dance team; the district plans to add girls flag football as the state recognizes it as a tournament sport. Martin also described a new gaming club separated from other hobby activities after student request.
The board and administrators said fine arts, drama and band programs are robust and much of that work happens outside class time; the district emphasized inclusivity, noting all activities are open to all students. No vote was required; the reports were informational.
