Jihan Mohammed said she holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from Michigan State University and previously taught in Vanderbilt University's sociology department. "I'm a research analyst. I'm very excited to join the team," Mohammed said.
Gavin Kroll Williamson described a background that included a master's in education from Vanderbilt University and prior work at the Community Oversight Board where he managed research and policy. Gavin Kroll Williamson said his first assignment will be a language-access study; he added that he returned to government work because of a desire to affect policy and practice.
Commission staff said Brenda Perez will begin in the coming days and that hiring the three analysts doubled the commission's research capacity. The staff presentation said Mohammed's first assignment is a new rendition of an inclusivity report and that Williamsons first assignment is the language-access study.
No commission vote was required for the hires; the item was presented as staffing news and a capacity update. Commissioners thanked the new employees and staff for the recruitment.
