Delhi Township Fire Chief Campbell told trustees Aug. 27 that the department’s spare ambulance (Unit 2014) was taken out of service earlier this year for maintenance and is now in Columbus undergoing remount work. While the unit was unavailable the department has relied on mutual‑aid agreements with neighboring jurisdictions to cover response capacity; Delhi personnel have staffed those borrowed ambulances when in service.
Campbell said the remounted ambulance should return to service before the end of the year and that the township has ordered a new ambulance, with a target of operating five ambulances by 2028. He described the mutual‑aid arrangement as reciprocal: other townships’ ambulances are used in Delhi when needed, and Delhi will provide assistance when neighboring jurisdictions request it.
The chief also announced the department’s annual open house on Oct. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. and emphasized that the shared staffing model has helped maintain response coverage during maintenance and equipment downtime. Trustees did not take formal action on equipment procurement at the meeting; Campbell reported status and timelines.
