Delhi dog park opens; trustees describe Phase 2 walkway and grant plans

Trustee Stearts and Parks Director Soupy reported on the ribbon cutting, which occurred on Saturday despite light rain. Stearts said the dog park was the last item on a community engagement “hopes and dreams” list and that Phase 2 will address access by adding an entryway walkway. Director Soupy said staff will pursue grants and that next year’s work will include creating a nature‑trail style entry and some piping and fill to make the path accessible.
Trustees and staff emphasized the park is open and being enjoyed; they noted parking and lack of a formal walkway as outstanding items. No formal board action was required to open the park; trustees encouraged residents to use it and to look for announcements about grant applications and improvements.
Parks staff said they will provide updates once grant applications and schedules are confirmed; the board also discussed park officer patrol hours and potential weekend scheduling to match high park use on Sundays.
