Clinton Utilities Board: no upcoming water/sewer rate increase; sewer billing adjustment extended

Councilman Harrell provided an update on Clinton Utilities Board operations: he said the board's budget was passed and there is no planned rate increase for water or sewer. Harrell said the general manager's contractors were renewed for another five years and that customers will not face an immediate rate hike. Harrell also explained an adjustment to how sewer charges are calculated for customers who water lawns or run pools. Historically the system uses winter months to cap sewer charges and summer months to reflect higher usage; Harrell said the summer months used for comparison were extended so the period for adjusted billing now runs from May through November, giving customers an extra month before winter normalization applies.
