County staff told the commission Aug. 19 that the front and back parking lots at county facilities will be repaved, likely in September over a two-week period, and that the county is coordinating with the farmers market and other tenants to minimize disruption.
Staff said they were finalizing dates with contractor GM Emulsions and that the Farmers Market communication lead, Anissa (Nisa), and construction supervisor Gilberto are coordinating logistics. "It's not gonna affect the farmer's market one bit," staff said, explaining the contractor plans to tear out on Monday and pave by Friday to preserve market operations.
Staff also said plaza renovations and roof repairs are underway, that an ADA ramp and a bandstand ramp will be added, and that the county is managing construction to allow scheduled events to continue. County staff reported they were exploring a change order to add a curb cut now to support a proposed adjacent farmers-market relocation and to avoid a makeshift entry next year; that would require an easement discussion with the adjacent property owner.
Staff also announced the new chief building official began work and that renovations at a new sheriff's office site have started; staff said these moves should speed building inspections and permit processing.
Why it matters: the repaving will temporarily affect parking and access but staff described scheduling and communication steps to maintain regular market operations and events.
