Richfield board accepts donations totaling $68,216.97 for scholarships, early learning and athletics

The Richfield School Board voted Sept. 2 to accept donations totaling $68,216.97. The board accepted a $45,000 grant from the Best Buy Foundation earmarked for early learning and college-and-career readiness activities, a $23,000 gift from Uplift North (formerly Assistance League of Minneapolis–St. Paul) to the Richfield High School scholarship fund, and $216.97 from the Richfield Spartan Foundation to the boys high school tennis team.
Director Paula Cole moved to accept the donations; Director Ken Liss seconded the motion and the board approved the gifts by unanimous voice vote. District staff thanked the community partners and indicated the funds will be applied to the designated purposes.
