County manager reports progress on sheriff's office renovation, plaza work and senior-center projects; animal-shelter feasibility RFP planned

Taos County Manager Miguel Jaramillo updated the commission Sept. 2 on capital projects and administrative tasks: renovations for the sheriff's office and the county plaza remain on schedule; the metal building for a new Penasco Community Center was on site and staff were planning a lift date; the county is preparing to open a senior center in Enquestia and is working on the Cuesta Senior Center; and the auditor team will arrive next week as part of the annual audit.
Jaramillo also said the county planned to issue a request for proposals for a feasibility study on an animal shelter and expected to release the RFP in September. He added one scope item to the study: evaluate the feasibility of using the old armory as a shelter site.
The manager reported that budget approvals were completed and that corresponding budget adjustments for the Espinosa Road project were included on the consent agenda. He said the treasurer's and finance offices were preparing for the audit.
No formal action was taken on these updates; they were informational and directed staff to proceed with the RFP and project coordination described in the update.
