Council briefed on $6 million budget amendment tied to Buncombe County homeowner grant program

City staff told the council Thursday they will present an interlocal agreement with Buncombe County for the FY25‑26 homeowner grant program and a related budget amendment for $6,000,000 to record reimbursements tied to early disaster recovery expenses submitted to FEMA.
"This is a Buncombe County agreement for fiscal year 25, 26 homeowner grant program," said Jay Dundas. He added that the budget amendment is for $6,000,000 for reimbursement of early disaster-recovery expenses that have been submitted to FEMA.
Dundas said the city expects to record budget amendments each time reimbursements are received as part of normal operating procedure. Community and Economic Development staff will be available at the Aug. 26 meeting to answer questions, staff said. No formal council action occurred at the briefing; the items will be included on the Aug. 26 consent agenda.
