New Franklin approves purchase of 2025 Dodge Durango for fire department

The New Franklin City Council passed Resolution 25R43 authorizing the city to purchase a 2025 Dodge Durango pursuit SUV as a replacement for a 2011 Ford Explorer used for EMS chase runs and inspections. Chief Pickett, identified in the meeting as the fire chief, said the 2011 Explorer has just over 98,000 miles and the frame and body have deteriorated to the point that replacement is necessary: “This vehicle replaces our 2011 Ford Explorer… it's used for EMS chase… and inspection uses as well.” The purchase price discussed in committee was $42,488.58. A roll-call-style sequence recorded “Yes” votes from multiple members; the clerk announced “Resolution passes 7–0.” The resolution declared an emergency to expedite procurement.
