The Smyrna City Council unanimously approved two pouring and Sunday sales license applications for Jay Christopher’s on Atlanta Road (Ward 3) and Riverview Grill on Riverview Road (Ward 7).
For Jay Christopher’s, the council held the item with no substantive discussion and approved the license by voice/hand vote. For Riverview Grill, owner Kwame Vanderpoide addressed the council, said he is a 20‑year Smyrna resident and described the restaurant as a casual fine dining American cuisine operation offering lamb chops, steak, seafood and vegan options. Vanderpoide said the restaurant will offer weekend brunch and that he expects to open “early to mid October at latest” once the liquor license is issued.
Council members said they had discussed both applications during pre‑council and saw no unresolved issues; both items passed unanimously. No conditions, special restrictions, or objections were recorded in the meeting transcript.
The council moved on to other business after recording the approvals.
