The Yorktown Central School District Board of Education on Aug. 25 approved several intermunicipal agreements, contractor awards and contracts during routine business.
The board approved an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Yorktown for the 2025–26 school year pending receipt of required insurance documents, and separately approved a 2025 commuter-lot license agreement with the town.
The board resolved to award the Public Address and Audio System Service Repairs and Replacements Project to Soundpro NY Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder. The resolution was read and approved by voice vote.
On athletics, the board approved a resolution permitting one student from Lakeland High School (LHS) and one student from Walter Panas High School (WPHS) to participate with the Yorktown High School ski team during the 2025–26 season under the New York State Public High School Athletic Association shadowing rules. The resolution states, in part: "There shall be no additional cost to Yorktown as the result of the LHS and Walter Panes school students' participation." The LHS and WPHS students will practice with the YHS team but compete as independent athletes for their sending schools; the sending schools or students are responsible for transportation to practices and meets.
The board approved the Google Workspace for Education service order for 2025–26, and approved several PPS independent contract agreements pending required insurance documents (including Listening Partners for 2025–26 and Marie Comney for Aug. 27–Dec. 19, 2025). A board member asked about contract pricing; district staff responded that many services are driven by students' individualized education programs (IEPs), so total final costs can vary and the district typically does not provide "not to exceed" totals in these IEP-driven contracts.
The board approved an affiliation agreement with Iona University for June 30, 2025–June 30, 2026, accepted change orders for an HVAC replacement project, and approved stipulations of settlement and related agreements for specific students where listed in the meeting record.
Finally, the board accepted with gratitude a donation of $25,000 from the Crampon PTA to update the Crampon stage lighting system.
All the listed motions were moved and seconded and were approved by voice vote during the meeting; several approvals were noted as "pending receipt of required insurance documents" when applicable.
