Cedar Rapids Community School District’s community podcast reminded families of a new district rule that students should not have phones and smart devices — including Apple Watch and wireless earbuds — active during the school day.
The hosts said devices should be silenced or turned off and stored away. Parents who need to reach a student during the day were told to call the school office or have the student stop in the office to make or receive calls.
“Students should not have phones and smart devices, including Apple Watch, AirBuds, and all of those things,” Isabelle said. Justin added a parent‑support note: “If you need to reach your student during the day, just have them stop in the office and give you a call, or parents should call the office to get a note to their student.”
The podcast said a full communication plan and other coverage of the policy are linked in the district newsletter.
