High school students eligible for job shadows through Kirkwood program; applications due Sept. 17

Cedar Rapids Community School District announced that high school students in grades 10 through 12 may apply for job shadows with local professionals through Kirkwood's Workspace Learning Connection; sessions last two to four hours and students may participate in up to three job shadows per year.
"High school students in grades 10 through 12 get to spend a few hours with local professionals through Kirkwood's Workspace Learning Connection," Isabelle, a podcast host, said on the Future Ready Today episode. Hosts encouraged students to apply early: "Applications for the first round are open now, but the deadline is September 17 at 03:00. And opportunities are limited, so don't wait until the last minute," Isabelle said.
The podcast noted that job shadows run two to four hours and that students can do up to three per school year. Hosts emphasized that transportation is the responsibility of the family and that both in-person and virtual job-shadow options are available.
"They lasted between 2 and 4 hours, which is totally manageable for students, and students can do up to 3 job shadows per year," Justin said on the podcast. Hosts also recommended the experience as useful for students still exploring career options.
