MPO begins LRTP outreach, wins $50,000 WalkWorks bike‑share planning grant and creates multimodal subcommittee

Emerson announced the MPO received a $50,000 WalkWorks planning grant to study bike‑share and other micromobility options for Erie County. “We have gotten $50,000 in planning funding to do a bike share study to bring bike share and other micro mobility to Erie County,” Emerson said. The grant will fund planning work and will require program oversight.
To provide a standing forum for multimodal planning and to administer the WalkWorks funds, the TAC considered a motion to create a multimodal subcommittee that could include non‑TAC members in an advisory, non‑voting role. Committee members said opening membership beyond TAC voting members would broaden expertise and allow stakeholders who are not formal TAC appointees to participate in planning.
A motion to form the multimodal subcommittee carried; staff will solicit volunteers and define membership and reporting procedures. Staff said they will coordinate LRTP outreach with EMTA’s transit development plan outreach to minimize duplicate meetings.
