Coordinating Committee adds $700,000 Pedro Bridge project for Venango Township; local-use fee funding explained

Matt Jonas (Staff member) told the coordinating committee that Venango Township requested $700,000 for the Pedro Bridge project on Page Road; the local use fee subcommittee reviewed the request and recommended it for addition to the MPO project list. Matt said the project is slated for 2027 given current cash-flow and bridge programming.
Committee members moved and seconded the motion to add the Pedro Bridge project; the chair called the voice vote and said the motion carried. Ally (Staff member) confirmed the recommendation originated with the local use fee subcommittee.
Matt explained the “local use fee” is the $5 registration fee added when license plates are renewed; the MPO pools those revenues and receives payments semiannually. He said the local-use fee money has primarily funded poor-condition bridge projects and that only a handful of poor-condition bridges remain on the list.
Committee members had no further questions and approved adding the Pedro Bridge to the MPO project list for 2027. Staff said they will continue to monitor cash flow and schedule the project accordingly.
