The joint Planning Commission and Village Board unanimously approved an amended plan of operation on Aug. 14 for Enterprise Rent-A-Car at W226 S1700 Highway 164 to add vehicle rentals to an existing car sales operation and refine the building’s layout.
The amended plan reduced overhead doors on the Lincoln-facing façade, retained a storefront and east garage door, and improved queuing and stacking for returned rental cars so vehicles can be washed and returned to inventory without overhead doors on the south face. Petitioner Doug Reiser of Enterprise said the revised layout provided the desired flow with fewer overhead doors.
Planner Sean described the original April approval and explained the new layout clarifies stacking and queuing for rental returns and an interior automatic car wash to support vehicle turnaround. The Planning Commission recommended approval with staff recommendations, and the Village Board accepted that recommendation.
Why it matters: The amendment updates the facility layout to support rental operations and clarifies exterior changes to the building; the village found the revised layout acceptable and consistent with earlier approvals.
Next steps: Petitioner may proceed with the revised storefront and internal changes in accordance with the standard conditions the village applies to site-plan amendments and building permits.
