Sandy Homewest, a Milky Way Road resident, told the Planning Commission and Village Board that recent heavy rain caused a washout at the bottom of the hill by a culvert and an embankment collapse near the Bushman property. “We had quite a washout at the bottom of the hill from our house,” Homewest said, and later told the board the area “got coned very fast” and the damaged sections “have been taken care of.”
Homewest said the village had filled the washout with large rock and applied asphalt. She also reviewed several agenda items and asked for an update on the DPW building site plan in a later agenda item. Village staff and commissioners did not propose immediate additional action after her report; board members acknowledged the repair work and moved on to other business.
Why it matters: A washout and embankment collapse on a public road can affect safety and road access. At the meeting, residents reported repairs already completed and thanked the village for action.
Next steps: No formal motion or vote followed this public comment; the board later discussed the DPW site plan during the meeting but did not attach additional immediate work to the Milky Way repair update.
