Lisle board asks staff to review residential commercial-filming rules after repeated shoots at one house

The Village of Lisle’s Committee of the Whole agreed Aug. 18 to ask staff to review the village’s commercial-filming regulations after hearing that most recent permit activity has centered at a single residence and that a recent multi‑day shoot brought a large crew and extended hours to a neighborhood.

The review will examine whether the village’s Feb. 2020 ordinance and related permit rules are meeting policy goals to promote filming while protecting residents, Village staff said. Village staff and board members asked that any draft changes be developed with input from affected homeowners, neighbors and relevant commissions and returned to the board for consideration.

Assistant to the Village Manager Havlik opened the discussion by reminding the board that the village adopted an ordinance in February 2020 to establish requirements for commercial filming and a permitting process. Havlik said the village has received 37 commercial filming permit applications since the ordinance was adopted, with 29 of those applications tied to a single residential address.
