The Village Board on Aug. 18 approved a minor change to the Western Avenue Transportation Hub planned unit development at 4514 Western Avenue to allow modifications to the building’s west-side loading area and additional access points. Director Smetana described the change as a permitting-stage adjustment requested by the applicant to add overhead doors and reduce some loading bays on the west side to allow additional access for truck repair operations. He said the village engineer reviewed revised trip-generation data and determined the modification would not add impacts to village roadways. “That data shows no additional impacts to the village’s roadways,” Smetana said. Trustee Duffy asked whether the change would produce negative impacts for the surrounding neighborhood. Smetana said the applicant agreed to construct a 14-foot wall along the west property line as a condition to mitigate visual and noise impacts and that the west side was already planned for loading uses, so the modification was not “a material difference.” The board approved the ordinance by roll call with Trustees Duffy, Olson, Grau and Lesniak voting “Aye.”
