City introduces summer interns across HR, planning and GIS

City staff introduced five interns at the Sept. 2 council workshop, describing their assignments, backgrounds and the departments that supervise them.
"This is the first year we have welcomed a group of interns, in a structured internship learning environment at the city," Anya Warrington, the city HR director, told the council as she introduced the interns. The city presented five interns: Miranda (HR intern), Ella (risk, safety and emergency programs), Cameron McTee (planning and community development), Jackson Fox (GIS), and Dylan (GIS, online).
Staff said interns work under mentors and supervisors and contribute to projects across departments. Examples given: Miranda supported HR metrics, wellness-data analysis, digitization and onboarding tasks; Ella helped transition the city's emergency plan into a county annex and updated EOC resources and activation procedures; Cameron worked on inventories of critical areas, including wetlands and streams; Jackson and Dylan supported GIS data digitization and produced a bicycle infrastructure map.
Troy (IT) and Max Roth (risk manager) were named as supervisors for the IT and risk interns respectively. Council members and staff lauded the interns' early contributions and said the program provides both learning opportunities and immediate operational value.
