Board approves out-of-state spring-break trip for PHS band and choir to Southern California

The Prosser School District Board approved a request to permit Prosser High School band and choir to travel to Southern California during spring break in 2026 for multiple performances and clinics.

A staff member representing the music program told the board the band has 68 students in the program and that organizers anticipate about 40–45 students will participate in the trip. The presenter said the group has secured a performance slot with Disney and is pursuing other performance and clinic opportunities; the group contracts directly with a trip company and organizes fundraising through the Prosser Music Boosters.

The presenter described the trip as a larger experiential opportunity offered about every four years, said fundraising and booster support are in place, and told the board that the travel company handles logistics such as extra hotel nights when flights are disrupted. The board approved the out-of-state travel request by voice vote.
