At a special meeting, the board approved Resolution 14-25, extending the Associated Student Body (ASB) fund budget by $720,000 to provide additional budget room for student activity accounts.
Staff said the extension responds to an effort begun at the start of the school year to encourage ASB advisors to spend down fund balances on athletics, fundraisers and other building-level activities. "We asked all of the ASB advisors to really try and spend down their fund balances," a staff member said. "So we are asking for a budget extension of 720,000. I don't think that they're going to spend that much... but just giving it a little bit more room." The staff member said some transactions will be posted back to August.
Board members voted by roll call on the resolution. The clerk called the roll: "Michelle," "Brian," "Frank," and the presiding member each answered "Aye." The motion carried on a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned after the single action item; the next regular board meeting was announced for Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
No statutes, ordinances or other legal authorities were cited during the discussion. The staff explanation and the unanimous vote are the only formal actions recorded in the transcript for this meeting.
