The North Ridgeville Board of Education on Sept. 2 presented three items for first reading: a supervised overnight field trip for high-school boys basketball, an agreement with AVA Outreach to provide behavioral support services as specified in students' individualized education programs (IEPs), and an agreement with Phoenix Learning Center Lehi for special-education and related services. The district scheduled the second reading and consideration for approval at the Sept. 16 regular meeting.
Under the proposed trip, North Ridgeville High School ninth through 12th grade boys basketball players would travel to Uniontown and North Canton, Ohio, for scrimmages Nov. 14–15, 2025. District materials and the presentation said all Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and North Ridgeville City Schools protocols would be strictly followed.
The AVA Outreach agreement would provide individualized behavioral support from a certified registered behavior technician as described in students' IEPs. The education report said the contract clearly defines services and the responsibilities of both the district and AVA Outreach staff and intends to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements while promoting student growth.
The Phoenix Learning Center Lehi agreement would provide special-education instruction and related services for eligible North Ridgeville students. The district's summary said the agreement outlines tuition, transportation and service responsibilities for both parties and is intended to meet state and federal legal requirements for special-education services.
All three items were presented as first readings; the board will consider approval at its Sept. 16 meeting. No public vote on these items took place on Sept. 2.
