North Ridgeville board approves human-resources slate and moves into executive session on personnel

The North Ridgeville Board of Education on Sept. 2 approved a package of human-resources items in one reading and then voted to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters and negotiations, with no action to follow. The human-resources package included multiple staff appointments, contract adjustments and resignations.
The board moved to approve the human-resources items on a single reading. Board member Mister Hayes moved the motion and Mister Stackhouse seconded it. The motion passed on a roll-call vote: Hayes, Saxon, Grigsby, McCarthy and Vaca all voted yes.
Board materials listed the human-resources slate as 23 NREA supplemental contracts, 15 non-NREA supplemental contracts, one hourly tutor contract, two unpaid volunteer recognitions and one interior school bus washing contract (first reading announced Aug. 19); later agenda detail noted additional support staff appointments, substitute contracts, certified-staff contract adjustments, support-staff contract adjustments, a support-staff resignation and a supplemental-contract resignation.
After the approval the board voted to enter executive session “to discuss the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, compensation of public employees, and matters related to negotiations of public employees.” The motion to enter executive session was moved by Mister McCarthy and seconded by Mister Haynes; the board conducted a roll call and entered the closed session. Meeting materials and the board announcement stated there would be no action following the executive session.
The board did not take additional public votes on the specifics of individual personnel items during the open meeting; the approved human-resources package was recorded as passed in the single-reading motion. The district indicated other listed items on the human-resources report would return for the second reading where required by board policy or state rules if applicable.
