City officials announced a ribbon‑cutting for the Maple Run project next Thursday at 10:30 and provided an update on local housing and industrial development.
Staff told the board the ribbon cutting is scheduled at 10:30 on the date listed in the invitation; meeting remarks used the phrase “20 first” when reading the date. The event location was described as the Glover’s Lane area, with the city owning the parcel east of the first house on that road.
Board members said the Maple Run subdivision will add 70-plus homes in the early phase and could expand to more than 300 in subsequent phases. Two local builders told staff they expect to build about 10 homes each in the first year, according to remarks at the meeting.
Separately, staff said a company that acquired a former K‑Cord site (as described in the meeting) is expanding existing facilities by another roughly 150,000 square feet — moving from roughly 310,000–320,000 square feet toward an additional 150,000 — and has begun hiring. Staff characterized the new roles as paying about $24 an hour in the remarks.
Board members characterized the month as an active period for housing starts and job growth; no formal board action was required for the announcements.
