Summary
Cadets from the King George NJROTC unit described a multi‑day trip to Ace Adventure Resort (West Virginia) designed to build leadership, teamwork and morale; the unit invited board members to an upcoming area manager inspection on Nov. 19.
Cadet Lieutenant Commander Shelby Yee told the King George County School Board that a recent NJROTC trip to Ace Adventure Resort in West Virginia provided “one of the most memorable experiences of the year so far,” emphasizing white‑water rafting, zip‑lining and team activities that supported leadership and communication skills.
“We started off early on Saturday morning by loading up the trailer and the bus and making the drive into the mountains,” Shelby Yee said. The cadets described team challenges on the river, campfire skits and an overlook visit to the New River Gorge, and said the trip gave older cadets recognition for years of commitment to the program.
Lieutenant Ellen Campbell, executive officer of Fox Company, said the trips help cadets “communicate with each other” and “showcase teamwork and unity,” and invited board members to the unit’s area manager inspection on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
Board members praised the cadets’ leadership and the trip’s practical lessons; one member noted that two cadets fell into the water during rafting but were recovered safely and credited teammates for assisting. The presentation was informational; no board action was taken.
