Board adopts revised employee handbook effective Jan. 1, 2026, amends Section 4

Scottsburg’s Board of Works voted to adopt a revised city employee handbook that will take effect Jan. 1, 2026, and includes an amendment to Section 4. The board considered a resolution authorizing adoption of the handbook and a council member moved to approve the resolution. The motion was seconded and members present voted in the affirmative. During discussion a board member asked how long the previous handbook had been in effect and whether legal review had occurred. Staff said the previous handbook dated to 2024 and that Human Resources uses an outside counsel on retainer for legal questions and review. Staff circulated the draft handbook to board members by email prior to the meeting. The board did not attach additional conditions to the adoption at the meeting. Staff said the handbook will be implemented administratively and will become effective Jan. 1, 2026; any operational questions will be handled by Human Resources.
