Village board approves $84,066 change order to repair multi‑use path near fire station

The Village of Pingree Grove board authorized change order No. 1 with Schroeder Asphalt Services on Aug. 18 for $84,066 to repair a failing section of the multi‑use path near the fire station that the village owns and maintains. Village staff explained the additional cost reflects localized base repairs, replacement of ADA ramps and associated curb work and the mobilization of equipment different from what was used for road resurfacing. Andy (village staff) said staff had solicited several contractors and that the price from Schroeder is competitive for current market conditions. Trustees asked whether the village had maintenance responsibility and whether the homeowners association would agree to allow an extension of path work onto private property; staff said the area is private property in some places and that any additional work on HOA property would require HOA approval. Staff also noted the work is time‑sensitive and needs to be completed before Sept. 1 to meet scheduling and funding constraints. The board voted to waive further advertising and authorized the change order. Trustee roll call votes in favor were recorded and the motion carried.
