The district's communications office reported a website redesign and mobile app rollout that, staff said, produced a substantial rise in page views and sessions.
Mrs. Ward, communications staff member, told the board the office redesigned the website and mobile app with input from stakeholders and an advisory board. She cautioned that the year-to-year metrics are not directly comparable because the mobile app links to the website and inflates page-view counts, and said the district will have more comparable data next year.
Ward described internal and external communication tools (Tiger Tails for staff, Parent Pause for parents, Facebook and Instagram) and said the district offers training for staff on communications. When asked which pages receive the most visits, she said the Canvas parent portal was the top page during the academic year, followed by the homepage and the events calendar (which is linked to the mobile app).
Why it matters: Communications staff said increased engagement indicates parents and staff are using district digital tools to follow assignments, events and school information. Ward said the communications plan will align with the district comprehensive school improvement plan (CSIP) and noted an open house for Liberty Elementary is planned in 2027.
Details and next steps: The communications office will continue to amplify student voice, increase alumni engagement, highlight the CSIP process and update the comprehensive communications plan to align with district strategy.
