The City Council presented certificates of recognition to several longtime workers and retirees, including Angela Stoiloff (retiring Los Angeles Unified School District administrative assistant at San Fernando Elementary), Suzanne Hernandez (retired LAUSD office technician at San Fernando Elementary), and Martha E. Salazar for 50 years of service at Anthony International.
Mayor Mary Mendoza and council members praised each honoree's decades of service and personal ties to San Fernando. The mayor said of Angela Stoiloff, "Angela has been— is now retiring after an incredible 40 years of service to Los Angeles Unified School District and in the San Fernando community." Stoiloff told the council she grew up in San Fernando and urged continued city support for local schools.
Suzanne Hernandez, who retired after 31 years, thanked the city and noted the honor was unexpected. Martha E. Salazar accepted recognition for five decades at Anthony International, described by the mayor as a "rare accomplishment," and told the council about her family ties to the city.
Why it matters: Council members framed these recognitions as acknowledgements of long-term service that supported generations of students and local families. The item was ceremonial; no policy or budget action resulted.
