Howard County’s Convention & Visitors Bureau budget for 2026 won council approval at the Sept. 11 workshop. Board members told the council they plan to draw modestly on reserves to fund marketing and booking activity as the hotel and convention center project advances.
Officials said the CVB has disciplined spending and a healthy reserve that supports a temporary drawdown while staff work to secure events for the new facility. Council members moved to approve the CVB budget as presented; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Council and CVB representatives said the group will focus on booking, marketing and partnerships with the city and local businesses to maximize use of the new event venue once it opens.
