Board hires Dr. Chris Kaylor as chief school business official starting Oct. 1

The Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District 3 Board of Education voted Aug. 18 to approve a two-year contract to hire Dr. Chris Kaylor as the district's chief school business official, with a proposed start date of Oct. 1.

Superintendent Dr. Lee presented the recommendation after an interview and reference-check process led by a committee that included the superintendent, board members and district administrative staff. The superintendent summarized Dr. Kaylor's background, saying he had served most recently as director of business services and previously as a superintendent and principal in other districts.

Board members approved the contract by roll call. After the vote, board members and the superintendent invited Dr. Kaylor to the meeting for a brief introduction and photograph. The board discussed compensation and paperwork with administrative staff before adjourning to closed session.

The contract approved at the meeting is a two-year employment agreement; administrators said Dr. Kaylor would begin work Oct. 1, subject to completing hiring contingencies. No additional details about salary or benefits were discussed in open session beyond the superintendent's recommendation.
