DUNCANVILLE, Texas — The Duncanville Independent School District board unanimously approved a three‑year clinical affiliation agreement with Abilene Christian University on Aug. 18 to host dietitian interns who will provide supervised clinical experience within the district’s child nutrition program.
Pam Brown presented the agreement to the board, saying there is no financial cost to the district. ACU will prepare and supervise the interns, ensure they are certified and insured, and complete background checks. The interns must follow district policies and procedures; the university agreed to coordinate orientation and supervision.
District responsibilities include providing meaningful clinical experience, workspace and orientation while maintaining operational control and the authority to end participation if standards are not met. District staff noted the agreement can support nutrition services and provide short‑term additional dietitian capacity while the child nutrition director position is being fulfilled.
Board discussion addressed the expected number of interns: district staff said the program is projected to place one intern initially, with potential to grow. The motion to approve the affiliation agreement passed unanimously by electronic vote. The agreement contains standard termination provisions and no direct financial impact to district funds was reported.
