Board OKs AVPro negotiations to upgrade Shine Performance Hall and Alexander Auditorium

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — The Duncanville ISD board on Aug. 18 authorized staff to negotiate and enter into an agreement with AVPro to upgrade audiovisual systems, stage rigging, curtains and lighting at Shine Performance Hall, Alexander Auditorium and the Black Box Theater at Duncanville High School.
District staff presented the scope as part of the 2023 bond program, saying the work would replace outdated sound and video projection systems and update stage rigging, curtains and lighting. AVPro was recommended as the vendor because it is pre‑vetted on the BuyBoard cooperative, has maintained the district’s current systems for several years and could work around frequent event schedules, the district said.
Paul Doucet, the district’s director of fine arts, helped develop the installation schedule to minimize disruption to performances and rehearsals. AVPro representative Amy Jackson and vendor representatives from LEN attended the meeting to answer questions. Trustees asked whether curtains had been previously replaced and confirmed procurement would proceed through the BuyBoard cooperative; district staff said the contract would include pre‑quote allowances and owner contingency funds to cover unforeseen conditions.
A motion to authorize negotiations with AVPro carried unanimously. The board recorded the vote as 7–0; staff will negotiate final pricing and contingencies and return to the board as required under district contracting procedures.
