The Ozark City Council on Aug. 5 adopted a resolution declaring specific properties public nuisances and later scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 19 to consider declaring additional properties nuisances.
During the meeting, the council introduced and approved a resolution naming the following addresses as public nuisances: 430 Magnolia Street, 566 Newton Avenue, 616 Magnolia Street, 198 Magnolia Street, 615 North Merrick Avenue, 545 Eufaula Street and 551 Newton Avenue. The motion to adopt the resolution passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Later in the meeting the council set a public hearing for 5 p.m. Aug. 19 to consider declaring additional properties public nuisances, listing 694 Days Road and 1394 South Union Avenue among those to be considered. The public hearing was scheduled by motion and approved unanimously.
Council members did not record detailed factual findings or step-by-step remediation orders in the meeting transcript; the resolutions were presented and voted on as part of the council’s agenda. No public comment or staff presentations about specific property conditions, lien amounts, or abatement plans were included in the recorded discussion of the nuisance declarations during the meeting.
The council also confirmed separate weed-lien costs for two parcels (see related article) during the same meeting; those confirmations were adopted by unanimous vote.
