Board grants after-the-fact setback relief for Palm Boulevard shed; owner cites cost and power-line constraints

The Horton City Board on Sept. 2 approved an after-the-fact special exception for a metal shed placed within the setback at 1401 Palm Boulevard, allowing the structure to remain in its current location.
Homeowner Linda Corrigan addressed the board and said she sought relief to avoid the expense of moving the structure. "Trying to keep from having to spend more money. Because it will cost to move that structure," Corrigan said.
A staff member noted the shed and a Ford cover boat had been placed within the setback after installation and that the structure sits near a power line, which would complicate any attempt to move it. The staff member said the city had not received neighbor complaints about the placement. Based on that information the board moved to approve the special exception; the motion carried on a voice vote.
