Board approves 2025–26 certificated and classified substitute pay schedule changes

The Belmont‑Redwood Shores School District Board voted to approve updates to both the certificated and classified substitute salary schedules for 2025–26.

On the certificated side, staff recommended updating the half‑day and partial‑day rates — including changes tied to Wednesday lunch in congregate settings — and increasing the home‑instruction teacher rate from $210 to $230 to align with long‑term substitute pay. The board moved and seconded the item and approved it with an affirmative vote; the chair recorded “no nays.”

The board also approved updates to the classified substitute salary schedule. The classified changes add a line for licensed vocational nurse (LVN) substitutes and align hourly rates for paraeducators and nutrition clerks. Board members and staff said the adjustments are intended to improve recruitment and retention of substitutes.

Staff presented the items as budget‑neutral within the existing 2025–26 compensation planning; no additional appropriation was proposed during the meeting. The changes will take effect for the 2025–26 school year as part of the adopted salary schedules.
