The Planning and Economic Development Committee voted Sept. 2 to forward Resolution 54‑R‑25, a proposal to vacate an unimproved right-of-way between 416 and 428 Ralston Road, to the Sept. 15 board meeting with a positive recommendation.
Staff told the committee the strip is a 60-foot-wide open lawn that was planted in 1926 to connect Ralston Road to the east end of Obispo Avenue but that the road was never built and the village has no plans to build it. Staff said there are no easements affecting the strip and recommended approval of the vacation so the vacated land can be split among three adjacent property owners.
The recommendation was moved and seconded in committee and approved by voice vote. The applicant was present at the meeting, but no public comment was made on the item. The referral will appear on the board agenda Sept. 15 for final action.
Background: Staff characterized the right-of-way as unimproved lawn area and said vacating it would allow it to be added to adjacent parcels. No easements or future plans to construct the road were identified in the staff report.
