Superintendent Barnett told the board he and Mister Davis attended a School Building Authority meeting and that the district’s application was approved. "We were funded for this project, to the tune of $873,500," Barnett said. He said the existing chiller is obsolete and replacement parts are no longer available.
The superintendent said the total replacement cost is estimated between $900,000 and $1,000,000, meaning the district will be responsible for the difference. No board vote was required for the update; Barnett presented it as an informational item under superintendent updates. The district will need to identify or allocate local funds to cover the remaining balance before work can proceed.
Board members expressed appreciation for the award and for staff who prepared the application. The board did not set a specific timeline in the public portion of the meeting for completing procurement or installation.
The next regular meeting was scheduled for July 15, 2025, at the district central office in Hamlin, where follow-up details about budgeting or contracts could be listed on an agenda.
