Daytona Beach ' The Daytona Beach Downtown Development Authority voted 4-0 to tentatively set its millage at 1.0 per $1,000 of taxable value and to tentatively adopt a $392,271 budget for fiscal year 2025-26.
Ken Thomas, the city's neighborhood services director for redevelopment, told the DDA the budget assumes a 1.0 mill rate and includes $147,291 in payments to the downtown Community Redevelopment Agency under an agreed return arrangement. The budget also allocates $144,000 for marketing and promotion of downtown events and the farmer's market.
Why it matters: The DDA's tentative millage and budget fund downtown promotions and activities and reflect the DDA's recommendation for a one-mill rate used in the citywide notice of proposed property taxes.
Next steps: The DDA tentatively adopted the budget and set the tentative millage; the board will follow the same notice and hearing procedures required of taxing authorities ahead of final adoption.
