Advisory board proposes commemorative brick at Veterans Memorial Park to honor late member Steve Phillips

"I want to entertain the idea of purchasing a commemorative brick that would be permanently installed at the Veterans Memorial Park, and honor Steve," Amber, the board chair, said. She told members bricks at the memorial are available for purchase, that upper-level bricks are reserved for veterans and that a lower-level brick (open to the public) costs $100. Amber proposed the board cover the cost through member donations of about $10 to $15 each.
Amber also noted the board received an email from staff with details about Steve Phillips's celebration of life and encouraged members to attend. The celebration is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Crystal Beach Community Hall, 517 Crystal Beach Avenue, Crystal Beach, Florida; Amber said the family described the dress code as casual.
No formal vote was taken; the board asked interested members to speak with Amber after the meeting to sign up or contribute. Staff (Jenny) is the contact for event and brick-purchase logistics, and the board will follow up with the family and staff about installation timing and wording.
