GNET Futures program proposed for Gainesville site to cut long student commutes

Gainesville City heard a proposal to host a local site of the GNET Futures program that city leaders said would serve students from multiple area districts and reduce long commutes to Cornelia.

Board member Ms. Scott introduced the proposal, saying current students travel about 25 miles to Cornelia and "it's about a 2 hour round trip," creating challenges for families and school access. She said locating a site in Gainesville would serve roughly 50 students from neighboring districts and keep them closer to home.
