Daytona Beach — The Daytona Beach City Commission voted 7-0 on Sept. 3 to tentatively set the city's ad valorem millage rate at 5.93 per $1,000 of nonexempt assessed value and to tentatively adopt the fiscal year 2025-26 budget. The commission also approved a voted debt-service millage of 0.1395.
The vote came after public comment from residents who opposed the increase. Resident David Nadler told the commission, “We oppose the increase in taxes this year and the tax rate of 5.93,” and asked commissioners to hold the rate at 5.6962 because he said property values in his neighborhood were declining.…
