The Lincoln County Board of Education unanimously approved renewal of contracts for four itinerant social workers Tuesday. During the meeting, Miss McComis, board member, asked for clarification: “Now will we get all 4 of those social workers?” A district staff member responded, “They're already employed. It's just a renewal of the contract. So we'll just renew with them,” and added that the district pays the workers through a grant and that they are contracted through Mountain State. Board members discussed that the social workers are itinerant and can be assigned where needed across the district. The motion to renew the contracts was made by Mister Mosteller, board member, seconded by Missus Burns, board member, and passed 4-0. The board did not provide specific start dates or dollar amounts for the renewals during the meeting; staff said the positions are reimbursable through a grant and therefore “of no cost to our district.”
