At the Aug. 11 trustees meeting, a township representative said the Griffin family will donate a commercial-grade shade sail to cover a water fountain in the township park. The representative said Mark will design the shade area and the family will provide commercial-grade sailcloth and hardware so the installation looks professional and can be removed for winter snow loads. “My family, the Griffin family, wanna donate that to the park,” the speaker said. Park staff and trustees also reported progress on the playground project. They said Scholte Farms will provide a crane this week to set a tall play component for a cost of $300, and that the playground structures’ latest estimated arrival is Thursday or Friday. Park staff said the crane lift should take no more than a half hour and that the group plans a small public celebration and social-media post when the work is finished. Trustees and staff described final cleanup steps: vendors will stand behind the installation by washing and touching up pieces that were stored horizontally for a period. No formal township expenditure or vote was recorded for the shade-sail donation; the speaker said the gift will proceed after sizing is finalized.
