Summary
An insurance claim for hail damage to the Morrison County historic courthouse was approved for repair work this fall; the insurer (MCIT) agreed to a higher-cost bid from Pro P Construction so work can proceed this year rather than wait until 2026.
County Administrator Matt told the Board that a spring inspection found hail damage to the Morrison County historic courthouse roof, traced to a storm on Aug. 3, 2024. The county solicited two quotes: one from Castripa Tuck Pointing and Roofing and a higher bid from Pro P Construction. Administrator Matt said the cheaper contractor could not start until 2026, but MCIT, the county27s insurance pool, agreed to cover the higher proposal from Pro P Construction so repairs can proceed this fall. The county deductible for the claim is $1,000; Administrator Matt said MCIT will pay roughly $100,000 toward repairs and the county will reimburse the remaining estimated $67,0002d$68,000 after completion. No board vote was required; Administrator Matt said the work will be scheduled this fall and noted the roof27s age is about 18 years and replacement was already on the county27s planning horizon within a few years.
