Redevelopment commission approves up to $2,000 to host Indiana SBA and ISBDC on Nov. 12

The Lawrenceburg Redevelopment Commission voted Wednesday to authorize up to $2,000 to host a visit by representatives of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) on Nov. 12. The money is intended to cover refreshments, lunch and a small “Lawrenceburg” goodie bag for visitors.

Commission members said the visit is an opportunity to highlight recent downtown redevelopment work and local business successes. Staff member Massimoore, who presented the request, described the visit as a “meet and greet” and said the delegation could include 30 to 40 people for lunch. “They will be able to, take something home with them that has Lawrenceburg, stuff on it,” Massimoore said in the meeting.

The commission’s motion authorized spending “up to $2,000” for the event; commissioners said the amount was an upper limit and they did not expect costs to exceed that figure. Becca, who leads Main Street activities, said she and staff had held a first planning meeting for the visit and would bring a detailed map and list of notable speakers to the October meeting.

The commission discussed the value of showing visitors recent projects and noted that local partners—including Main Street staff and downtown business owners—would participate in walking tours and a potential panel discussion. The motion passed with an affirmative vote by those present.

Finance staff Miss Hernish reported earlier in the meeting that the redevelopment fund balance was $963,923.49 as of Sept. 2, 2025. Commissioners and staff said they would aim to finalize program details and speaker lists at the next meeting in October.
