Council grants home-occupation intern-use permit for cosmetology salon after state zoning notice

The International Falls City Council on Sept. 2 adopted a resolution approving a home-occupation intern-use permit for a cosmetology salon that staff said had been operating without city zoning clearance.
City staff member Mister Myers explained that the operator had previously run the salon and was notified by the state that she lacked proper zoning clearance from the city. Myers said the intern-use permit is tied to the individual; if the property is sold, the intern permit would not transfer as a conditional-use permit would.
Councilor Buller moved to approve the application; Councilor Wagner seconded. The council voted unanimously, 5-0, to approve the intern-use home-occupation permit.
