District says Raymond Elementary repairs largely finished; new building progress on schedule

The superintendent said district custodial staff have been working to prepare spaces while contractors finish finishing touches, including new third-floor flooring expected the week after the meeting. “We are right now, we're on schedule,” the superintendent said, adding that the district was “a little ahead of schedule” on some items.

Board members were told the larger construction project for the new school is beginning to take visible shape: the superintendent reported roughly 6% of the building itself is complete and about 44% of the site work is finished, with steel starting to arrive to outline the structure. The district reported $2,900 in net change orders as of the end of last month, and noted a $300,000 credit on one item that helped offset other change orders. The superintendent described the change-order total as 0.003 percent of the project value. The district expects the project to meet its target completion date of Aug. 1, 2027.
The superintendent emphasized the sequence of repairs that had to be completed before the building could reopen: restoration of electrical service, replacement or repair of a building-specific fire pump tied to the well, elevator repairs, and sewer and HVAC commissioning. The report said cooling ductwork remained to be connected but that liquid was introduced into the HVAC system and the heating function had been pressure-tested successfully.
No formal board action was taken on the repairs or the construction update during the meeting; the item was presented as the superintendent's report. The superintendent asked parents to update student ridership information in Infinite Campus to allow transportation staff to finalize bus routes.
The district named Raymond Elementary, Wyndham Primary School, Wyndham High School and Manchester School in the update and said custodial and transportation staff had been instrumental to preparing buildings for the school year.
Looking ahead, the superintendent said the board would be invited to an evening site visit in September to view progress on the new building.
